Overview: Our client, a TSXV-listed junior gold company, is seeking an experienced Mining Manager to oversee the development and operations of its open-pit gold start-up operations in Brazil. This role presents a unique opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in a Greenfields mining startup, guiding the project through development and into steady-state production.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of open-pit mining activities.
- Oversee the transition from development to production, ensuring that timelines, budgets and safety standards are met.
- Develop and implement efficient mining plans, focusing on productivity, cost control and safety compliance.
- Ensure adherence to Brazilian regulatory, environmental and safety requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the corporate team to align mine performance with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Report to executive leadership and the board on key operational metrics, challenges and milestones.
- Manage contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders to ensure operational success.
Required Experience: - Qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field (Advantageous)
- Significant experience leading small scale start up operations, preferably within South America.
- Strong background in mine planning, scheduling and operational execution.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and ramp up Greenfields mining projects.
- Proven leadership experience as a Mining Manager or a senior operational leader within gold mining.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Strong ability to engage with local stakeholders, government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Proficiency in Portuguese is advantageous.
